The main idea for this ‘Roman’ cleaver was to enhance the contrast between the rough back of a blade and the shiny sharpness of the bevel.
The wood for the handles has been used by the Romans to make water wells around 2000 years ago. They have recently been discovered in Veldhoven, a village in the south of the Netherlands.
